What is Sculptra Aesthetic?

Volume loss occurs naturally during the aging process, especially in the face, as the cheeks tend to become hollow and flat. Beverly Farris, FNP-C, and the team at AestheticFX Med Spa offer Sculptra Aesthetic, a poly-L-lactic acid-based dermal filler that allows for fuller and longer-lasting volume in the mid-face. In addition to restoring the fullness of the mid-face, Sculptra can decrease the appearance of shallow to deep wrinkles and lines, including the nasolabial folds (also known as laugh or smile lines) that go from the outside of the nose to the outer corners of the mouth. With a unique formula approved by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA), Sculptra prompts the natural production of collagen in your body, so even if you stop injections, your complexion should still be healthier compared to before Sculptra injections. We recommend a series between 2-3, depending on the volume loss of the patient. Each session is every 6 to 8 weeks. Our goal at all times is to help you look and feel your best without compromising your health.

How Are Sculptra Injections Performed?

Following your consultation to determine your treatment plan, you will receive your Sculptra injections in one of our private procedure rooms. Your injector may apply numbing cream or local anesthetic prior to sterilizing and marking the injection sites. Once you are prepared, the filler will be injected into the deeper skin layers at the selected sites. For best results, Beverly Farris and the AestheticFX Med Spa team recommend a series of four injections, each scheduled at our Frisco, TX facility about three weeks apart.

What to Expect After Sculptra

Following your Sculptra treatment, you may have mild to moderate swelling, redness, bruising, or tenderness at the sites of injections that should resolve on its own in a few days. For faster healing, you can apply cold packs to the injected areas. You should limit UV exposure after your injection and use sunscreen. Many patients will see clear improvements immediately after their Sculptra injections, with final results appearing after several months, when the natural collagen production strengthens the complexion. If Sculptra is performed in a series over 3 – 4 months, a patient's results may last up to two years.
